As a physician, expression via abstract painting developed in parallel with Celia’s medical training. Hailing from Savannah, Georgia her art is heavily influenced by the city’s diverse flora, striking sunrises on the intercoastal and its haunting ambience.
Celia is presently based in Durham, NC and received her Medical Doctorate at the Duke University School of Medicine after which she completed preliminary training in General Surgery, also at Duke. Her medical training was preceded by years of industrial and academic research ranging from particle chemistry to the molecular genetics of pulmonary pathologies. These experiences are mutually involved in the art Celia creates with persistent histologic and chemical themes throughout.
